Creating Tiny Love was a true labor of love. We poured everything into making a certification program that was evidence-based, easy to follow, affordable, and accessible to anyone called to become a doula to start not only changing other people’s lives, but their own.

We are Doulas, Doula Trainers, Mentors, Childbirth Educators, and Midwives, as well as moms who utilized doulas for our own births. We have a combined 50+ years experience as childbirth professionals.

Meet the founders.
Two women who dedicated their lives to supporting families through birth and postpartum. They turned that calling into a world-class certification program.
Co-Founder
Kristen Downer
CPM · LDM · TLCD
Kristen is a DONA trained doula, experienced educator, and the founder of Womb Service Doula Services. She has led countless advanced doula trainings, including Childbirth Education, Doula Business Fundamentals, and hands on support for pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding.
Her work has taken her into homes, birth centers, and hospital settings, where she has supported families with calm, practical, and compassionate care. In 2009, Womb Service Postpartum grew from that work, offering breastfeeding and postpartum support to families throughout Central Texas. Kristen was an active volunteer with GALS, Giving Austin Labor Support, and a founding member of the Central Texas Doula Association.
She was also a Certified Preceptor for Birthingway College of Midwifery, the Utah School of Midwifery, the North American Registry of Midwives, and the National College of Midwifery. Kristen currently resides in Portland, Oregon, where she continues to bring decades of birth, postpartum, education, and mentorship experience to the Tiny Love Doula Certification program.

Jessica Atkins

Jessica was a DONA International Doula Trainer for over 14 years, certifying well over 2,000 doulas. A Certified Childbirth Educator (ICEA), a founding member of GALS, a Lactation Educator and WIC Peer-Counselor, and she won several awards for creating programs that make a meaningful difference in communities where maternal and fetal outcomes are less than ideal.
She was also a Business Development Consultant, helping organizations around the world grow and implement effective programs. She became a midwife and continued to serve mothers and babies in her community until her passing in the Spring of 2017.
♥ Sadly, Jessica passed away far too young and far too soon in the Spring of 2017. Tiny Love will continue to honor her life’s passions in bringing support and care to women during their childbearing year. She spent her life fighting for women’s rights in childbirth. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think about Jessica and her impact on the birth community, her family life, and in our personal lives. We miss her every day. ♥
